No occasion is better defined than with the ritualistic clothing that has been handed down by ancient traditions. Clothing brings together the theme and reflects the occasion and the mood with élan. And when it’s an over-the-top sort of occasion like Halloween, clothing is got to be the most selective and its something people spend most of the time and money on deciding.

The theme of Halloween goes back in time to the folklore about ghost, witches and skeletons coming alive on Halloween. The more scary the costume the more the impact it has. From babies dress like superman and kids dressed like skeletons, Halloween costumes are the most innovative till date.

You could create your own Halloween costume which is easy and personalized besides being cheap. Even an ordinary or simple outfit like a dress can be made to match the mood by incorporating scary mask and makeup. A black dress can be made to look weird by adding a pointed witch hat and a broom. Be a gothic princess with dark make up and a tiara. A white costume can be transformed into a scary mummy by wrapping your face in bandage or adding a cloak and a skeleton mask.

Similarly you can use scary make up like vampires teeth marks and blood dripping from your neck or stitch marks on your skull to make it more dramatic. A latex mask that gives near realistic features is another way to get different looks be it a shrouded skeleton or a scary clown. Cloaks and robes, wigs, gloves, eye mask and capes if used with the right combination can make great Halloween costume ensembles.

Now-a-days everyone’s done with the old traditional wizards, witches and demons and they are looking out for contemporary costume themes. Aliens, zombies, ware wolfs and geeks are in. Movies also dictate costumes. Contemporary movies with aliens and zombies are very popular and can be easily purchased from stores but it could be very common and you would definitely not enjoy your Halloween party if three were three or four of the same costumes. But if you’re a fan of all time favourites like Freddy Kruger or count Dracula or even Grim Reaper go with it and enjoy being evil.

Colour of clothing on Halloween is also vital. The original colour is orange and black. Black is a safe colour because it signifies evil and death, which is the theme of Halloween. Florescent green and orange give a great impact in the dark. Florescent fabrics are very imposing.
